If you still need to get a Christmas tree, the Kariwara District Scouts have your needs covered.

The group, which covered Maribyrnong and Hobsons Bay, have been selling trees at three locations throughout December and will be out again this weekend.

The three locations to go tree shopping are IGA West Footscray, Bunnings Maribyrnong and Bunnings Altona, with children from each group helping sell the trees.

Kariwara District commissioner Gerard White said seven scouts groups were included in the district.

Last weekend, the group sold 94 trees and they’re hoping to sell more this weekend.

“For the first three weekends of December, each group sells trees for half a day or until the trees are sold out,” he said.

“Whatever proceeds we get out of the six days, we divide up and distribute to those groups.

“They are all really enjoying it, getting out there and selling trees, talking to the public. They like getting involved because the money comes back to them.

Mr White said the groups can use the money they raise on anything needed for the group.

“Some will use it for maintenance on the scout halls , some use it on upcoming camps or trips, it is really up to the group as to what they decide to do with it.”

The tree’s price range begins at $65 for a smaller tree, up to $85 for one of the larger trees.
