Williamstown Football Club has leased the function centre previously known as The Rocks from Hobsons Bay council.

Seagulls president Trevor Monti said the Morris Street venue, which seats 280, had been renamed Williamstown Seaview Events Centre and would be more accessible to the community.

Mr Monti said a new flexible pricing system would make the centre more affordable to the community.

“It was leased to The Rocks, who specialised in quite expensive weddings and it was really closed to the residents of Hobsons Bay,” he said.

“The Rocks proved unsuccessful so they departed and we sought to lease it.

“We’re now making that beautiful facility – which has the most fantastic views of any facility in Melbourne by a million miles – available for sporting clubs, for organisations, for corporates, for residents. It has city views and views across to the Dandenongs.”

The lease expires on June 30 next year.
