Seaholme Kindergarten children having a bowl

Children from Seaholme Kindergarten last week tested the greens at Altona Sports Bowls Club.

Member David Grego – also a member of Altona Bowling Club and whose five-year-old son Harry attends the kinder – said the clubs had joined forces to introduce children to the sport.

“I go to the kindergarten to pick up my boy and a lot of the parents have never been in the club,” he said.

“So, I rang Bowls Victoria and I said, we need to get kids involved in sport, we need to get parents involved in clubs, because it’s very daunting for them to actually come into the club.

“Days like this, everyone’s allowed to come in and everyone’s allowed to do barefoot bowls.

“Seaholme Kindergarten wanted me to do a sport day for them and there’s probably no better sport.

“Everyone can play bowls.”
