Seddon home damaged by fire

A home in Seddon has been severely damaged by fire this morning.

Firefighters responded to multiple reports of a house fire in Hotham Street at 2:46am on Thursday May 8.

Fire crews arrived to find the single storey weatherboard home already engulfed in flames and were forced to call for back-up when the blaze spread into nearby trees and fences, threatening adjoining properties.

Firefighters were unable to enter the property and had to attack the blaze from outside, with the occupants and those of adjoining properties evacuated.

No one was injured in the fire which was brought under control at 3.36am.

Fire crews remained on scene until late morning to monitor for any flare ups within the structure.

Police and ambulance officers were also present at the scene.

The cause of the fire is unknown and is being investigated.
