Seven vie for election in Footscray

The Footscray electorate has been held by Labor’s Katie Hall since 2018.

The electorate takes in Footscray, West Footscray, Yarraville, Seddon, Kingsville, Maidstone and Maribyrnong.

As a result of the 2020-21 redistribution of state electoral boundaries, the electorate lost 20,693 voters to the new Laverton electorate across Braybrook, Tottenham and parts of Brooklyn and gained 15,448 voters from the Williamstown electorate.

Labor holds the seat with a 28.7 per cent margin.

Six candidates have joined Ms Hall in nominating for election in Footscray. They are: Elena Pereyra (Greens), Shohre Mansouri Jajaee (Animal Justice Party), Russell Muir (Family First Victoria), Alan Williams (Labour DLP), Jorge Jorquera (Victorian Socialists), and Emete Joesika (Liberal).
