Shade grants have been approved for Footscray High School.

Work will soon commence at the school’s new Barkly and Pilgrim campus to install new shaded outdoor learning spaces thanks to the Victorian Government’s School Shade Sails Fund.

The School Shade Sails Fund aims to increase the use of outdoor learning areas and environments by creating new shaded outdoor learning spaces in schools to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

In a post on Facebook where the grants were announced, local Footscray MP Katie Hall said: “This is just one of the measures we’re taking to make our schools as safe as possible for Victorian students.”

The shade grants are an addition to the school’s newly built Barkly and Pilgrim campus’, which will both welcome year nine students this year.

The Kinnear year 10-12 campus is currently in its second stage of development, and is set to be completed in 2023.
