Creative kids have used shadow puppets to explore Footscray’s past during a school holiday activity with a difference.
Joyce Watts and Jo Skladzien, artists-in-residents in Maribyrnong council’s Artsbox, last Wednesday ran a series of Lost in the Shadows workshops for children aged between five and 12 at Footscray library.
Inspired by Footscray’s rich history, stories were created from shadow puppets and backdrops, based on the people and places that have disappeared from modern Footscray.
The stories were filmed and will be turned into a short clip by Yarraville video production company atomo.
The results will be screened at a special storytime session at Footscray library from 4-5pm Thursday, April 28.
