To welcome the beginning of Good Beer Week 2023, beer lovers will be able to share a cold one with their furry friend.

Hop Nation Brewing Company has created a special beer called Dog Nation Beer, for furry friends to enjoy at Zymurgy restaurant in West Footscray on Saturday, May 20.

Owner of Hop Nation and Zymurgy, Sam Hambour said this one day only, free event is all about dog friendly fun.

“This event is all about celebrating locals and dogs in the west because it’s such a huge part of the community,” he said.

From noon-9pm , Zymurgy will host an assortment of beers on tap , tacos from Dingo Ate My Taco, as well as local vet charities and fundraisers making an appearance.

“Humane Animal Rescue is coming to raise awareness to fostering and to host a fundraiser with prizes,” he said.

There will be free samples and giveaways such as doggo party bags from Well Beings Petcare by VetCall.

The dog beer was initially a project for a tv show promotion but had such a good response they decide to make it again.

“At Zymurgy there is always a row of prams and dogs , it’s all part of the west community,” he said.

The Dog beer is made from 100 per cent natural beef bone broth, Australian made with human-grade whole foods, and nothing artificial.

It contains collagen protein and more than 19 amino acids, so it’s beneficial for joint, coat and gut health, ideal for cats and dogs of all ages.

Good Beer Week is now its eleventh year , running several events across Melbourne from Saturday, May 20 – Saturday, May 27.

For locals who can’t make it on the day, the dog beer is available from Footscray tap room and online at Hopnation.com.au.
