Skate park now rolling in Maribyrnong

Maribyrnong’s latest skate park has been unveiled as the centrepiece of a new “youth plaza”.

The site at Robert Barrett Reserve, outside the Maribyrnong Aquatic Centre, offers a large open surface with skate elements including stone edges and curved steel rails.

The project was driven by local skaters who asked for a park of their own because of Maribyrnong’s distance from the skate park at Yarraville Oval and another at Johnson Reserve in West Footscray.

Specialist skate consultants Playce and Baseplate designed the park and refined the details at two consultation sessions with local skaters.

The open plaza setting means the site can be used to host events and other activities.
