I love data visualisation and the insights it can bring and so I am proud that council has just launched 10 dashboards for the community to view how council is tracking on a range of key projects, programs and services.
From information on facilities, the number of planning permit applications, and tree plantings to wait times for customer enquiries, it’s all about increasing transparency and providing clear goals for our service delivery and programs.
If you’re interested in the environment and sustainability like me, you can use the dashboards to view how much solar energy council is generating and how much we have reduced our emissions through solar installations.
In 2021-22, we generated 1,515 MWh of solar electricity, and this will steadily climb as we install more solar panels across the municipality.
You can now view a map of current solar panel installations and planned sites.
The Hobsons Bay at a Glance map highlights council’s facilities and services including public toilets, libraries, community centres and sport and recreation.
You can also use the map to find out about which planning zone you live in, our heritage and industrial overlays, your bin collection area and our tree planting schedule for the city.
Over the last few years, we’ve invested significantly in infrastructure projects across Hobsons Bay.
There are currently 380 active capital works projects – buildings, recreation and open space, roads, footpaths and cycleways – all assets which improve the environs of Hobsons Bay.
You can view the Capital Works Projects map for full details on each project.
The dashboards will be updated regularly, and we are keen to see how the community and business will use the data.
We invite feedback on how to improve the dashboards and any other suggestions for areas of council’s work that we can track.
Knowledge is power; providing access to the dashboards in an easy-to-read format empowers our citizenry to have stronger public oversight on council’s services and programs and build a more connected community.
You can access the dashboards from Council’s website at www.hobsonsbay.vic.gov.au/CouncilReporting
