Spider descends on Williamstown

A giant redback spider puppet has been photographed descending from the ceiling at Seaworks in Williamstown.

Seaworks chief executive Glenn Jones posted the photo of the puppet, created by A Blanck Canvas, to social media to lift people’s spirits amid lockdown.

“There’s been a lot of cobwebs around lately,” he joked.

“Everything is being postponed or rescheduled, so it’s quite an interesting juggling act that we have to do.

“It’s quite handy that I have a lot of circus people based at Seaworks because I learn a lot from them and I’m thinking about joining the circus, myself, because I’m getting very good at juggling.

“Things haven’t been great and I think everyone just needs a laugh now and then.”

The spider was among a collection of giant roving bugs commissioned by Melbourne Museum.
