Spotswood dog owners advised to stay clear of cricket pitch

The Spotswood Cricket Club is advising dog owners to keep their dogs off the wicket table at Donald McLean Reserve.

The Spotswood Cricket Club have advised dog owners to stay clear of the wicket table on oval 1 at Donald McLean Reserve.

Club secretary Leonard Robbins said the curators of the pitch were becoming frustrated with ongoing damage from dogs walking on it.

“I can actually see paw prints,” he said.

“It’s just removing the chance for us to regrow the grass.

“It just makes it more difficult.”

Mr Robbins said the stakes and rope were stolen between 5pm on Saturday, September and 10am on Sunday, September, with the club since installing temporary rope and stakes.

“They just don’t seem to care,” he said.

Anybody who sees any activity at Donald McLean Reserve are advised to contact Victoria Police, Hobsons Bay council or the Spotswood Cricket Club.
