Philanthropists wanted for gentlemen’s car club

A Spotswood man is looking to establish a group for like-minded car enthusiasts and philanthropists to help prepare his Mercedes for salt lake racing and do charity work in the community.

Peter Max is currently preparing his SL600 Mercedes-Benz convertible, which has a V12 engine as powerful as a Lamborghini’s.

“Now, I need to do things like put a roll cage in it, put a parachute on it, put a fire extinguishing system on it,” he said.

“I was thinking that I should start a gentlemen’s club and call it the Aristochaps.

“I’m very much interested in philanthropy – I’m in the Les Twentyman group and some other charities – and I’m really keen to start a little group called the Aristochaps to do charity work around the area.”

Mr Max said there would be no cost involved.

“I’m hoping to find people to help me develop the car; by that I mean people who can talk about making it more aerodynamic or put a turbo charger on the engine … and who have a serious view of philanthropy – helping people in the community.”

Anyone interested in getting involved can call Peter Max on 0411108080.

Mr Max hopes to reach speeds of between 400 and 480km/h when he races at Lake Gairdner in South Australia.
