A massive farmers aid event to raise funds for drought relief will be held in Altona in October.
Altona Sports Club is hosting the Springtime Harvest Farmers Aid benefit, featuring a gala concert, carnival rides, car show, barefoot bowls and other family activities.
The club’s Gavin Comport said the event was the brainchild of Morning Melodies’ performer Rick Charles, who together with other artists would be donating their time.
Mr Comport said the centrepiece would be a three-hour concert featuring variety performers and tribute artists paying homage to stars such as Dolly Parton, Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley.
“The club is calling on the local community to get behind this very worthy cause,” he said.
“Come along and be one of the stars – have loads of fun while helping raise funds for this much-needed cause.”
Outdoor activities will be by gold coin donation.
Tickets for the Variety Gala Extravaganza go on sale on September 1 and are $30 for adults or $50 for a family.
Community radio station 88.9 WynFM will be in its outside broadcast van at the event.
