Maribyrnong Council and the state government have partnered to create three new and improved park spaces.

The dog park at Thomson Reserve in Maribyrnong includes a new shelter with seating, dog agility equipment, rubbish bin, dog bag dispenser, garden beds, bike racks and tree planting.

The improvements were delivered with a $250,000 state government grant and $5000 from the council.

Concept plans for the Birmingham Street Pocket Park were finalised earlier this year following consultation in February.

Construction is expected to begin in a few months to transform the end of Birmingham Street with seating and shared pathways.

The project is being delivered with a $1,037,657 state government grant and $53,259 from the council.

Construction of a pocket park in Footscray’s Joseph Road Precinct, on the corner of Warde and Whitehall Streets, will start next year.

This site will be transformed into areas of open lawn with large canopy trees, garden beds, paved areas and street furniture – including seating, bins and bike hoops – as well as opportunity for informal play. The project is being delivered with a $1.3 million state government grant and $1,027,500 from the council.
