State election staff needed

Applications are now open to work at the election in November.

The Victorian Electoral Commission ]VEC] is seeking casual staff to help deliver a secure, transparent, and fair election.

Anyone over 18, who is an Australian citizen, permanent resident or holds a current work visa is eligible to apply to work with the VEC for one day or up to 4 weeks in a variety of roles.

“Election casuals receive competitive pay and don’t need any prior experience,” deputy electoral commissioner Dana Fleming said.

“We provide full training.”

Voting centres and early voting centres will be located across the state and people are encouraged to apply for election work anywhere in Victoria.

“We are committed to having our election workforce reflect the diversity of the Victorian community,” Ms Fleming said.

“We particularly encourage applications from people from groups under-represented at elections.

“This includes people from Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander communities, people with a disability, people who speak multiple languages including English, people without secure housing, or people aged 18 to 30.”

Election staff develop skills in administration, customer service, and teamwork and enjoy a unique working experience.
