On Wednesday, May 24, emergency services were called to Yarraville following reports of a structural house fire.
The initial distress call was made to the fire department at 10.45am to Urwin Street in Yarraville, followed by several calls regarding smoke issuing from the home.
The caller was reportedly extremely distressed with concerns for their cat which was suspected to still be inside the single storey weatherboard house.
Within five minutes of the call, Pumper 45 reported smoke issuing on turnout and escalated the event to a second alarm once on scene.
In total 20 firefighters responded to the scene, seven pumper units and one aerial unit.
One person suffered minor burns to their hands, and was immediately treated by Ambulance Victoria on scene.
FRV crews wearing breathing apparatus conducted an internal attack and the fire was quickly brought under control.
FRV remained on scene to ensure complete extinguishment and overhaul of the blaze.
The power company was on scene assisting as well as the police who also responded.
