Altona North Primary School pupils last week received a visit from the Royal Flying Doctor Service, who literally dropped by with a plane.
Teacher Alexa Nania said the schoolchildren were excited to experience the RFDS Aeromedical Simulator – a life-size replica of the fuselage of a flying doctor plane equipped with stretchers, communications, oxygen, suction and other equipment.
“The staff and students at Altona North Primary School had a pyjama day as a fundraiser, with all proceeds raised being donated to the royal flying doctors,” Ms Nania said.
“The grade 3-6 students were lucky enough to experience a virtual reality simulation of a typical flight and were able to go inside a life-size replica of a flying doctors plane to see how it all works.
“It was an invaluable, real-life experience for the Altona North Primary School students. They all had a wonderful day.”
