Sacred Heart Primary School year 6 student, Lucas and his team from the Melbourne City Soccer Club will run on July 7 to raise awareness and money for homelessness.
They will start running from the club rooms at Edwards Reserve in Spotswood to the Make Room project at 602 Little Bourke Street.
The 10-kilometre run is part of a fundraising effort to support the Make Room initiative, which aims to provide essential housing for homeless individuals.
The Make Room project is a significant step towards addressing homelessness in Melbourne by converting a council-owned building into 50 rooms for those in need.
The students are raising money via the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation.
In a statement, Lucas and another student, Gianluca, said, “We want to make a difference and help people this winter.”
“We aim to raise money for the homeless by running 10km from our soccer club to the Make Room initiative in the city.
“Please help support us by donating to our GoFundMe page.”
Sacred Heart Primary School teacher Kate Williams said the teachers are really proud of Lucas’ and Gian’s initiative to help people.
“They have shown remarkable initiative by supporting the charity the Make Room project,” Ms Williams said.
Teacher Anne Chapman said, “In the spirit of community and solidarity, all of our Year 6 students have come together to assist Lucas and Gian by spreading awareness and encouraging others to support this important cause in our community.”
