Around the clock major construction will begin along the Sunbury train line from Thursday, May 25- Thursday, June 1.
The upcoming 24-hour works along the rail corridor will mean a scheduled closure of the Sunbury Line impacting four stations.
The works will begin at Footscray station and will affect Middle Footscray station, West Footscray Station and Tottenham station.
These works are continuing along the Sunbury rail corridor as part of the Sunbury line upgrade.
Construction will be underway from Thursday, May 25 at 6pm to Sunday, May 28 at 5am and nightly from 7pm to 3am, Sunday, May 28, to Thursday, June 1.
Existing rail tracks will be removed and other rail assets within the rail corridor will be relocated, between Footscray and Tottenham stations.
Signalling upgrades will allow for bigger, more modern trains and more frequent services.
To ensure the 24-hour works can take place safely, buses will replace trains along the Sunbury line.
These works involve the use of excavators, an NDD truck, tipper, elevated work platforms, cranes, handheld tools, and other construction.
The works are expected to generate medium with intermittent high levels of noise and there will be an increase in construction vehicles travelling on Rupert Street, West Footscray to access the rail corridor.
Material will also be transported through the rail corridor via Joseph Road, Footscray and Rupert Street, West Footscray.
