During the upcoming Spring school holidays from September 16, to October 1, kids will be able to enjoy a new experience at the StemLab at Scienceworks.

Melbourne Water said it will be delivering a fantastic activation called ‘Super Sewage’, which includes a unique and engaging ‘choose your own adventure’ storytelling experience as well as a fun ‘pipe promise’ activity.

It said the experience is specifically designed for children aged 6-12 and is part of the Hobsons Bay sewerage upgrade project, also known as the Super Sewer Project.

Melbourne Water said this project aims to make improvements to our infrastructure to support the growing population in the area while providing an educational and entertaining experience for children.

Allowing them to learn about the importance of sewerage systems and their role in maintaining a healthy and sustainable environment.

Melbourne Water said children are invited to immerse themselves in a captivating narrative where they will make decisions that impact the outcome of the story, which will encourage critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Scienceworks general manager Jonathan Shearer said, “Super Sewage is an interactive journey of discovery, giving children the opportunity to learn about each stage of the sewerage system through play-based STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) learning in the context of real-life engineering.”

The activity will engage children in a hands-on learning opportunity, where they will have the chance to explore the inner workings of a sewerage pipe and understand how it functions.

According to Melbourne Water, through this interactive activity, children will gain a deeper understanding of the infrastructure required to manage wastewater and the importance of responsible water usage in an entertaining way.

Melbourne Water Water Literacy Manager Melissa Cordy said they invite families to join us and discover the world of sewerage systems in a fun and interactive way.

“The ‘Super Sewage’ activation at the StemLab will provide a unique and enjoyable learning experience for children during the school holidays.”
