Teen strangled in Footscray robbery

Police are hunting for a man who strangled and robbed a teenager in Footscray last month.

Maribyrnong Crime Investigation Unit detectives have been told a number of people gate-crashed a party along the Maribyrnong River, near Joseph Street, about 12.30am on December 12.

A 17-year-old girl was strangled from behind by an unknown person and had her purse stolen.

An unidentified man used the victim’s stolen credit card at a service station on Whitehall Street a short time later.

Police have released an image of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

At the time of the incident the man was wearing a red basketball top and Ferrari peaked cap.
