Hobsons Bay teenagers are taking part in the ’Teens Give Back’ Christmas campaign, filling hundreds of bags with food and essential items for Christmas.
The bags will be delivered to West Welcome Wagon, a not-for-profit organisation supporting asylum seekers in the community.
The appeal is co-ordinated by a network of parents raising teens, called Bubbling Up!
Parent Julie Noonan said teenagers across Hobsons Bay would fill bags with much-needed items at a time of year when many were struggling.
“It’s so important, particularly in a COVID environment, for our teenagers to understand the contribution they can make in their own community,“ she said.
“It is supported by Compton Green Williamstown and local schools, including Williamstown High School, who have all students across the Pascoe and Bayview campuses filling bags this year.“
Suitable items include toiletry necessities, non-perishable food and children’s items such as books and board games.
The appeal runs until December 4.
