Volunteers who lend support to Multiple Sclerosis Limited have been recognised with a special morning tea as part of National Volunteer Week.

The morning tea at Footscray last week paid tribute to those who give their time to help support people living with MS, a chronic disease that attacks the central nervous system.

Multiple Sclerosis Limited chief executive Robyn Hunter said National Volunteer Week recognised the great contribution made by more than six million Australians who generously donate more than 700 million hours of service each year.

“At MS, we have 4256 volunteers who contributed over 139,062 hours in the last financial year,” she said.

Ms Hunter said participants and volunteers were being sought for the annual MS Walk and Fun Run in Albert Park on Sunday, June 5.

“The event raises critical funds to ensure no one with this chronic disease undertakes the journey alone,” she said.
