A festival of philosophy and culture featuring more than 40 workshops, tours, classes and special events across Melbourne’s inner west will start rolling this Sunday.
Produced by The School of Life and powered by Highpoint, Think West 2016 (November 6-20) will feature headline speakers such as comedian Meshel Laurie, human rights advocate Mariam Issa and TV personality Jamie Durie along with western suburbs figures Bob Murphy, Katie Brennan, Kon Karapanagiotidis and more.
Festival director and founder of The School of Life in Australia, Kaj Löfgren, said wisdom, resilience and social change are the guiding themes of the new festival, being held in venues from Highpoint shopping centre to Williamstown Town Hall.
“Wisdom, resilience and social change are evident in different forms all over the west and as a local resident myself, I see this every day,” he said.
The festival launches this Sunday night at The Dream Factory in Footscray with A Night of Better Conversation.
On November 9, Jamie Durie explores the power of nature and sustainable design in a free talk at VU at Metro West.
Bob Murphy and Katie Brennan will discuss the powerful relationship between sport and social change at Williamstown Town Hall on November 11.
The Think West Children’s Day will be held noon-5pm Saturday, November 12.
