Police are warning vehicle owners, especially tradies, that thieves are currently targeting cars and utes across the western suburbs.
The Toyota Corolla and Toyota Hilux are the vehicles most commonly targeted by thieves who have been active in Maidstone, Maribyrnong, Footscray, Altona North, Laverton, Point Cook and Tarneit.
Tradies are advised to ensure their work vehicles are equipped with strong security measures to prevent their tools from being stolen, especially if off-street parking isn’t available.
Car owners should make sure their vehicles are locked at all times and their keys are not accessible.
