Residents in Maribyrnong and Hobsons Bay are invited to tune into the The Royal Commission into the Robodebt Scheme’s third block of public hearings.
Public hearings will commence on Monday, January 23, and those interested can tune into the hearings via the commission’s website, with a video available shortly afterwards and a transcript available on the following day.
Hearing block three will continue the commission’s focus on the fairness, legality and policy considerations of the Robodebt Scheme in the face of increasing criticism and scrutiny including in the media, by the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT), and the online forum #Not my Debt and the Ombudsman.
The hearing block will also consider the enforcement measures where alleged debts were not paid, the government’s continuing defence of the scheme, and the impact on individuals.
For locals who may have been affected by the Robodebt Scheme, public submissions are still open however the deadline is approaching.
The final day to make a submission is Friday, February 3.
To date the Royal Commission has received 575 submissions.
There are a number of ways to make a submission:

* Email RRC.enquiries@royalcommission.gov.au or write to the Commission at GPO Box 546, Brisbane QLD 4001 to receive a paper submission form; or
* Via video or audio recording – email rrc.enquiries@royalcommission.gov.au and ask for instructions on how to record and securely upload your video or audio submission or for assistance to make a video recording.
