Getting out of lockdown has come at the perfect time to get outdoors and Spring into Summer.

Back with a bang in 2021, this year’s bumper program returns with over 80 face-to-face outdoor and online events – and you can register for as many as you please.

Kicking off on November 15, this year’s epic program by Maribyrnong Council features all the favourites like yoga, pilates and zumba, alongside a host of new comers including public exercise equipment programs, a beginner running program, learn to cycle in groups, drawing in the park and more.

For younger participants there is Kids Yoga in the Park (for 5-12 year olds), Mini Basketball (for 8-12year olds) and Junior Tennis (for 4-10 year old).

Covering all levels of fitness and age groups, the free five-week program not only encourages residents to get outdoors in local open spaces, it also showcases a range of the facilities and activities on offer across our City.

Maribyrnong mayor Michael Clarke said now was the perfect time to venture outside post lockdown and try something new.

“We all know time spent in the great outdoors is good for our physical and mental wellbeing,” he said.

“And there are even greater health benefits when the positive impacts of nature are combined with physical exercise.”

The series is delivered through the council’s Active Maribyrnong initiative, designed to improve the health and wellbeing of our community through physical activity and community participation.

Since it began in 2014, over 30,000 community members have enjoyed the benefits of keeping active by participating in the council’s range of events.
