Tobacco store lit up

An Altona tobacco store has been allegedly set alight.

Just before 4am on Thursday, it is believed offenders smashed the front window of a Pier Street store before throwing jerry cans into the premises and setting it alight.

The store sustained minor damage.

Police believe a burnt out white ute located in a car park off Altona Road just before 5am is linked.

The fire is being treated as a targeted attack and police will assess possible links to other recent fires.
