A level crossing removal project will cause public transport disruptions in Hobsons Bay this week.
The level crossing on Ferguson Street, Williamstown is being removed which means buses will replace trains on the Williamstown Line for all stations between Newport and Williamstown Station.
The disruption will take place until December 10, and commuters are encouraged to allow extra travel time.
The level crossing on Ferguson Street is one of 85 level crossings that are being removed across metropolitan Melbourne as a part of the Level Crossing Removal Project.
As reported by Star Weekly in June, plans to build a sky rail at North Williamstown station have been quashed after strong community feedback suggested a rail-under-road design instead.
The level crossing is set to be removed in 2022, and construction on the new North Williamstown Station, as well as landscaping and finishing works, will also continue through to next year.
