Travel delays in place after police incident

UPDATE – 2:30PM

Train services on the Werribee and Williamstown lines are resuming between North Melbourne and Newport, after a police incident near South Kensington.

Services will not stop at South Kensington as investigations continue.

A shuttle bus service will operate between North Melbourne and Footscray and replacement buses may continue to operate as trains get back into position for the normal timetable.

According to the Department of Transport, passengers should still allow extra time for their journey.

Coaches are still replacing V/Line trains on regional lines.

Passengers should continue to allow an additional 90 minutes for travel.

There are disruptions to train lines across Melbourne’s west and regional areas this afternoon, due to a police incident in South Kensington.

Buses are replacing trains on the Werribee and Williamstown lines between North Melbourne Newport and passengers should allow an additional 60 minutes in travel time.

Services on the Ballarat line between Southern Cross and Caroline Springs, the Bendigo line between Southern Cross and Sunbury, Geelong line between Southern Cross and Sunshine will also be replaced by buses.

The Department of Transport has advised that passengers on regional lines should allow 90 minutes extra for travel.

According to the department, the disruption is under the control of Victoria Police and services will resume when investigations are complete.
