Maribyrnong’s keen readers are encouraged to have their say on the future of the area’s libraries, as part of the development of Maribyrnong council’s new Library Plan.

Maribyrnong council delivers library services across the Yarraville, West Footscray, Braybrook, Maribyrnong and Footscray facilities, including physical borrowing services, as well as self-service technologies offering digital collections, video-conference book clubs, recorded and broadcast story times, webinars and online consulting.

Consultation will focus on the need for Maribyrnong’s libraries to continue to adapt and to accommodate new demographics and different needs, as well as looking at how to incorporate new and emerging technologies in determining what libraries will look like and what services they can deliver going forward.

Maribyrnong mayor Anthony Tran said libraries are a key part of the Maribyrnong community.

“They are places of inspiration, creativity, lifelong learning and connection,” he said.

“We know our libraries and associated services are highly valued, and want to ensure they keep pace with community needs.

“Share your ideas and help shape the future of your local library.”

The plan will replace the Maribyrnong Libraries Plan 2019-23 document.

Consultation can occur online, directly with library staff or by downloading the survey and emailing or posting it back to council.

Consultation closes at 5pm on Sunday, November 20.
