Two charged following Tarneit carjacking

Altona North Embona Taskforce detectives have charged two teenagers following an alleged carjacking and assault in Tarneit on Tuesday night.

A 17-year-old Sunbury boy and 19-year-old Werribee man were arrested in an allegedly stolen vehicle on Sayers Road in Laverton North about 6.20pm yesterday.

The 19-year-old was charged with aggravated carjacking, theft of motor vehicle, intentionally cause injury, robbery and commit indictable offence while on bail.

He will appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today for a remand hearing.

The 17-year-old was charged with aggravated carjacking, theft of motor vehicle, intentionally cause injury and robbery.

He was remanded to reappear in a children’s court at a later date.

The arrest relates to the alleged theft of a car and assault of a 54-year-old Truganina man on Thames Boulevard about 8.25pm.

He was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and has since been released.
