Two Footscray house fires deemed suspicious

Firefighters responded to two suspicious house fires in Footscray following multiple triple zero calls this morning (12 April).

Fire Rescue Victoria crews arrived at the first incident to find two single storey weatherboard houses alight.

Firefighters quickly tackled the fire, and managed to limit damage to one of the homes.

The second home however did sustain significant damage.

It is believed the houses were vacant and the fire was declared under control at 05:36 am.

Just before 5:30am multiple triple zero calls were received for a separate house fire a short distance away from the first incident.

Firefighters arrived to find a vacant single storey weatherboard house alight.

The fire was declared under control at 06:09am and a community advice warning was issued for smoke in the area.

Both incidents have been deemed suspicious and will be investigated by Victoria Police.
