It has been dubbed the world’s most dangerous ukulele show.
Ukulele Death Squad is embarking on its maiden journey to Victoria.
Founding members Julian Ferguson and Benjamin Roberts started as a comedy act for February’s Adelaide Fringe Festival before morphing into a fully fledged band.
Ferguson, a classically-trained violinist, said the band had a weird flamenco Mexican vibe, playing everything from Quentin Tarantino film tracks to ’90s techno classics like Darude’s Sandstorm.
“We were shocked at the response to it … and then all of a sudden we had all of these festival bookings interstate,” Ferguson said.
“Then the next thing you know, we’re off to Edinburgh – which sold out as well.”
Ukulele Death Squad plays at Newport Bowls Club on Friday, November 24 from 7.30-10.30pm. Tickets, $10, at www.tickettailor.com/checkout/view-event/id/120484/chk/f31f
