Victoria University (VU) is hosting its second Virtual Open Day, giving prospective students from everywhere the chance to explore their futures in 360 degrees.

The university and VU Polytechnic have produced interactive 360-degree videos showcasing hundreds of courses and career paths.

Virtual visitors can take part in immersive tours of VU’s state-of-the-art simulation labs and workspaces.

More than 250 staff and current students will be online for live chats to talk about campus life and study pathways.

VU’s future students director Alex Sims said the day was for school-leavers, parents, teachers, postgraduate students and those looking for new careers.

“Any open day is an important event for Victoria University but given the current restrictions it’s never been more crucial to give prospective students, parents or anyone looking for a career change, a fantastic virtual experience,” she said.

“We’re looking forward to sharing the latest on our award-winning block model, our wide range of vocational and higher education courses and our outstanding facilities through our 360-degree virtual tours and more.”

Prospective students can learn about VU Polytechnic’s flexible blended learning model and free TAFE courses for new careers or upskilling.

The open day will have information on the VU Guaranteed program, which offers year 11 and 12 students a guaranteed place at VU or VU Polytechnic.

Throughout the day, prospective students can watch video panels with professionals offering practical advice.

Open day guests will get a first look at VU City Tower in the centre of Melbourne’s historic legal district.

It will be Australia’s tallest vertical campus and is set to open next January 2022.

The open day is on Saturday, August 21, from noon–6pm.
