Views sought on potential intersection upgrade

Residents and businesses are being invited to help shape the potential Point Cook Road and Central Avenue intersection upgrade.

Between March 13 and April 2, Major Road Projects Victoria (MRPV) is seeking community feedback to help inform planning for the potential upgrade, which would help reduce travel times, improve safety, and cater for population growth and increased vehicle movements.

The information will be used to better understand how the community and local businesses currently use the roundabout and connecting roads, with views sought on safety and traffic flow and what should be considered during the planning process, MRPV said.

The planning work will provide a clear picture of the area, and allow us to understand environmental and social impacts, develop design options, and confirm scope and costs of different options.

A business case is currently being developed and is expected to be complete in late 2023.

MRPV project development director Michael McLean said consultation will be in-person and online.

“We want to hear from the people who use the intersection,” he said.

“We want to know how you travel through the area, any concerns you have and what we should consider in our planning to help ensure the potential upgrade delivers the best outcome for the community.”

To help inform planning, roadside technical investigations will be undertaken from March 2023.

At times during the investigations, traffic control measures may be implemented, including temporary lane closures, stop/slow traffic and reduced speeds. Traffic disruption will be kept to a minimum, and busy periods will be avoided.
