Hobsons Bay council has launched its new customer service initiative, which would allow for library visitors to access a variety of key council services.
The council launched Council+ across a number of events on Thursday, May 26 and Friday, May 27, including events at Williamstown, Altona North and Altona Meadows.
Magician Tim Credible wowed visitors of all ages at the Altona North event, while other events included story readings, puppeteers, zumba, tai chi and face painting.
At the launch event at the Altona North Community Library, Hobsons Bay councillor Daria Kellander said the program would allow for library visitors increased access to a number of council services.
“Council+ means accessing Council’s diverse range of services is now easier and more convenient,” she said.
“As well as being able to do all the things you already love at our libraries, you can ask staff questions not only about our library services, but also organise anything from upsizing your bin to paying your rates.”
Hobsons Bay mayor Peter Hemphill said Williamstown, Altona North, and Altona Meadows would be the first libraries to become Council+ service centres, with more sites added by the end of the year.
“Council’s services are keeping pace with community expectations,” he said.
“This exciting change is part of our commitment to providing value for money for ratepayers.
“Our library team will continue to provide their skill and expertise and are looking forward to supporting the community on general council services, such as rates and infrastructure requests.”
