Hobsons Bay council and many community organisations are seeking new volunteers to give back to their community.
On Wednesday, April 27, council announced they are running a volunteering expo for residents interested in getting involved in their community.
On the day there will be a variety of stalls, food and music plus the opportunity for free yoga.
Residents are invited to meet a diverse range of local organisations, new clubs and community groups and fellow volunteers.
Hobsons Bay council in announcing the expo said that it acknowledges that many organisations, clubs and community groups wouldn’t exist without volunteers making a sacrifice of their time and skills.
It encourages residents to actively participate in their community, whether they join a club, explore the neighbourhood or simply try something new.
It said volunteering can allow residents to make a difference in their community, share skills and experience while learning from others while actively participating in the community and can also be an outlet for making friends and finding a new passion.
The expo will be held at the Hobsons Bay Civic Centre, 115 Civic Parade, Altona, on Saturday, May 20 from 11am-2pm.
