Volunteers recognised for efforts

Victorians, including those in Maribyrnong and Hobson’s Bay, who selflessly gave their time to the community will be recognised by the state government.

The 2021 Volunteering Awards finalists include Parks Victoria, AMES Australia and Sikh Partnership for the Volunteering Partnerships Award category.

Twenty-four people and 26 organisations have been announced as finalists across seven award categories.

“Parks Victoria, AMES Australia and Sikh Partnership do wonderful work here in the Werribee community, and it’s great to see this recognised,” Werribee MP Tim Pallas said.

The categories include, COVID-19 support and connection, inclusive volunteering and volunteering partnership.

One winner will also be named the Premier’s volunteer champion of the year and will receive the Dame Elisabeth Murdoch award and a $10,000 donation to a not-for-profit organisation of their choosing.

“After another year where communities throughout the state were again challenged by the pandemic, we are able to acknowledge the enormous contribution of our volunteers,” Volunteering Victoria Chief Executive Scott Miller said.
