Volunteers from local inner west environment groups and businesses came together last month to get their hands dirty and improve the amenity of a section of green space in Brooklyn.
As the name suggests, the Weed ‘n Water event hosted by the Brooklyn Recycling Group involved volunteers removing weeds and watering trees and plants in a corridor near the Federation Trail, Kororoit Creek and Old Geelong Road.
Given the close proximity of the creek, members of the Friends of Lower Kororoit Creek environment group were also present for the Friday morning working-bee, while a tanker truck provided by Melbourne Water was on hand to assist with watering.
The Brooklyn Recycling Group regularly holds planting, weeding and maintenance events along Old Geelong Road and new volunteers are welcome to come along and join in.
