Warrant executed in Altona North as part of firearms investigation

Detectives executed warrants at an Altona North property on Tuesday, August 23 as part of a seizure of more than 60 firearms following an illicit firearms trafficking investigation.

Detectives also executed warrants at properties in Werribee and Lal Lal.

A number of weapons including three shotguns, three rifles, an air rifle, two inert hand grenades, ammunition and a sword were seized.

A 62-year-old Werribee man is expected to be charged on summons with a number of alleged firearms offences, including possession of a traffickable quantity of firearms.

As part of this investigation, police also executed a warrant on Saturday, July 2 at a Clarkefield address and seized 59 firearms.

Police have charged a 29-year-old Clarkefield man with a number of alleged offences including possession of a traffickable quantity of firearms.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Melbourne Magistrates Court on Monday, October 3.
