Williamstown’s Freya Cantwell and Altona North’s Lucy Diggerson will star in Legally Blonde Jr, the musical adaptation of the hit film.
The teens were selected from more than 300 hopefuls aged 11-17 years who auditioned for roles in the Performing Artists Company production.
The pair train at TDC-The Dance Company in Spotswood.
Both girls have previously starred in numerous musicals including Annie Jr and Peter Pan Jr.
For Lucy, who has been performing since age five, it will be her sixth production.
“The pace is incredible and it is a supportive group,” she said. “Everyone is trying to improve and help each other and that makes it fun.”
Freya, who played Hortensia in the 2016 Melbourne season of
Matilda the Musical, said she was excited about the new show.
“Legally Blonde is an awesome musical to do; making a heap of new friends who love what I love,” she said.
The production is choreographed by Moulin Rouge performer Tyrone Anthony and directed by Alice Batt whose credits include the title roles in Cinderella and Snow White.
Legally Blonde Jr will run from July 12-14 at Space 28, Victorian College of the Arts.
