One of the biggest line-ups of jazz will be held in Melbourne’s west next month. Maribyrnong council and Moonee Valley council have partnered with the Melbourne International Jazz Festival to bring Jazz Out West to the western suburbs from June 2-11. Shows include everything from Afro-jazz to traditional Malian music. Among the offerings will be the six-piece Senegambian Jazz Band and electro acoustic duo Maria Moles and Adam Halliwell with their unique blend of 1970s freestyle jazz. There will also be a discussion at Kindred Studios in Yarraville about how the spread of the English language across the world has affected the songs and music we listen to.
