CLAY BUSH
Clay Bush is the owner of the popular Elsternwick meeting place, Goat House Café Roastery. He’s been roasting coffee for seven years, making it for about 25 years, and has called the area home for nearly a decade. He’s enamoured of the multicultural vibe of Elsternwick, Elwood and St Kilda. “They make for a melting pot where everyone comes together,” Clay says.
Where do you go for a great cup of coffee?
It would have to be the Goat House.
For a sneaky takeaway?
Once a week we go to The More The Better in Glen Huntly Road for Korean fried chicken, or Shagy’s Pizza in Tennyson Street, Elwood.
For a hangover cure?
If I feel inspired to get up early on my day off, I’ll get a “cruffin” from Lune. If I’m feeling a little seedy, I’ll get a hangover pizza and Bloody Mary.
To chill out?
I’ll see a movie at Classic Cinemas with my phone off, meaning no calls from staff. Happy days. As for parks, I’m also looking forward to Elsternwick Plaza being finished so we will have a new park to chill in. Maybe then we’ll get some music for the deck at the Goat House.
When friends come from out of town?
I’ll take them to Newmarket, in Inkerman Street, St Kilda. When my young niece and nephews come down, we go to Will’s Batch Ice Cream. Or to After the Tears for a late-night meal, especially after the cinema. ● LHG
