It’s not every day you see a horse in a suburban front yard.
Habib, a Clydesdale stallion, was spotted peering over a fence in Williamstown last week after his owner rode him from Laverton to a mate’s house, and it got dark before they could return.
Hoppers Crossing man Yussef Haouli said his horse had taken a shine to his friend’s house.
“I was on my way to work then I decided to change my mind and not go to work,” he said. “I just thought, I’m gonna go for a ride to my good mate Davo’s house in Williamstown. This horse just welcomed himself inside the house. He just goes into the actual house as if it’s his stable.”
Mr Haouli is looking to sell his horse to devote more time to his daughter.
“I’ve just had a baby girl last week, and I just want to spend more time with my baby girl because I think she’s the most amazing thing that’s ever come across my life,” he said.
He said Habib had a spirited nature.
“Have you seen How to Train your Dragon? He’s like a dragon. When you try to ride him he’s like, what are you doing on me?
“’Look how big I am, you think you’re gonna ride me?’
“Then you have to be like, ‘nah, Habib, I’m in charge, I’m on top of you’.
“Then, he’s like, ‘nah, nah, nah, just because you’re on top, it doesn’t mean you’re in charge’,” Mr Haouli said.
“Stallions have their own mind.”
