Williamstown is about to be in a spin when it hosts the Melbourne Latin Festival for the first time this Easter weekend.

The 10th annual festival features some of the biggest names in dance, including world salsa champions Ricardo Vega and Karen Forcano from Chile and Argentina, respectively.

Festival founder Natalie Montano said more than 150 performers and crowds of 1500 were expected to attend nightly performances at Williamstown Town Hall over the three-day event kicking off Friday.

“With past classes including sensual bachata and reggaeton, the festival is always so much fun and has a great social scene behind it,” she said.

“Now’s your chance to discover the difference between tango, bachata, samba and zouk.”

Yarraville’s Nathan Thorneycroft and Brooke Gittings are expected to sizzle at the event. The couple led Australian champion teams at last year’s World Salsa Solo and Australian Latin Dance Cup.

There will be 12 DJs over three nights and a live Latin band on the Saturday night.

The Melbourne Latin Festival runs from March 30 to April 1. The event supports the Leukaemia Foundation.
