A Williamstown singer-songwriter has just released her new single ahead of her second EP.

Thea FitzGerald’s new single ‘Good Like That’ is a vibrant, summery track that is a part of her new EP set to be released in early February next year.

FitzGerald had been holding onto this track for some time now, with COVID originally halting her plans to release her music last year. Despite this, the delay actually worked in her favour and allowed everything to fall into place.

“It didn’t feel right to release it and then I subsequently decided that I didn’t actually like it anyway,” she said.

“Funnily enough the trumpet (in ‘Good Like That’) is something that came after it was initially done because I’d just become friends with the trumpeter until sort of after that.

“That’s kind of been a silver lining. The trumpeter was a very last minute edition which wouldn’t of been in the original version and I think it’s probably one of my favourite parts.”

‘Good Like That’ draws on a particular friendship that FitzGerald had in the past that she always felt was one-sided.

“It was kind of that idea of you know what, this doesn’t serve me anymore, but having said that I don’t need to be petty, it doesn’t mean that I have to say goodbye forever and it doesn’t mean that they are a terrible person, it just means it’s not working at the moment,” she said.

“A lot of people say to me, ‘oh it’s really a summery kind of a track’ which it is and it’s meant to be, but that’s kind of part of it as well, almost having this celebration of moving on from a chapter.”

“It’s kind of more like a freedom party in a non petty [way]… if they wanna join you, great!”
