Ten-year-old Tahlia Hall lost her long locks on Friday to raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation.

The Williamstown Primary School pupil raised $1070 – more than double her $560 target – by participating in the World’s Greatest Shave. Tahlia said she would donate her hair to Wigs for Kids.

“I have donated it for wigs once,” she said. “I grew it again for just this occasion.

“I just thought it was really sad how people lost their hair from the medication given to help [them] survive from the blood cancer, so that motivated me. As well as my godfather who had leukaemia – and he also survived.”

Maribyrnong councillor and NorthWestern Mental Health manager Michael Clarke also shaved his head as part of a team of five, helping raise more than $6000 for Royal Melbourne Hospital Oncology Services.
