Hobsons Bay council is urging locals between the ages of 10 and 25 to have their say on their hopes and dreams for Hobsons Bay’s future.

The council is running a seven-week What Youth Want engagement campaign, running until the end of September.

Young people can get involved by completing a short online survey and participating in a range of community workshops and events in Laverton, Altona and Newport.

Hobsons Bay mayor Peter Hemphill said the youth of Hobsons Bay are an important part of what makes up the community.

“There’s no one better placed to tell us how council can deliver better opportunities for young people than the young people themselves,” he said.

“This campaign is a great chance for us to get to know our youth better and for them to shape what’s available to them throughout their community.

“There are a few simple things we want them to share with us: what’s important to you, what do you want or need in your community and how can we help you thrive to be the best you can be?”

Cr Hemphill said all ideas are welcome as part of the engagement.

“Tell us your big ideas for the city, tell us what you’d like to see, what you’d like to be able to do and what you like and don’t like about Hobsons Bay,” he said.
